In the meantime, I'm practicing by posting a quick little story I wrote this afternoon in response to the prompt: “Must include snow, a blue scarf, sliding on a lake and the sniffles.”

I had every intention of spending that couple hours I managed to find, finishing my H/C Secret Santa story, but this muse couldn't be deterred ;) Must finish that story tomorrow! ;)

1. Who sleeps in bed next to you?
At the weekends (and for the next 3 weeks - yaaaay!), hubby - weeknights, it's just little ole me.

2. What did you last eat?
A Cadbury's Wispa Gold! Mmmmm..... :D

3. What kinds of books do you read?
My favourite genre these days is probably crime/mystery - favourites include Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum novels, Dick Francis and recent discovery Joanna Campbell Slan's Kiki Lowenstein Scrap-n-Craft mysteries - and I also like tie-in novels such as the Doctor Who novels and some of the Fandemonium SGA novels.

4. What are you reading right now?
I've gotten very lazy with my reading. I have a pile of about 5-6 books waiting to be read. I was reading the most recent Dick & Felix Francis but I kinda got near the end, put the book under the bed (I was reading in bed and kinda put it on the floor under the bed when I decided to turn out the light and go to sleep) and haven't picked it up since!! :/

5. If you could be anywhere right now, where would it be?
In a nice new house with a big garden, a lovely big kitchen, minimum 2 reception rooms and 4-5 bedrooms. *sigh*

6. Tell me something interesting that happened today.
I got an email from a friend who has recently moved to Dubai for a few years, and who found out just before she left that she was pregnant for the second time, and she's had a scan and is having another boy! :)

7. Name one odd item within three feet of you.
Does hubby count? ;) *lol* Ummm.. okay then... well, let's see... there's the foam alphabet jigsaw floor mats, there's the 12 channel mixing desk hooked up to the CD player and mini disc player, there's a pile of random computer bits including a computer mic and several USB cables, there's the TV base unit for my Archos (which got stolen over a year ago), there's a pen with an LED light in the top of it and there's a weird battery/power box thingy, the functioning of which I barely understand but which hubby has hooked up to solar panels that he put on the roof!

8. What's your current fandom obsession/addiction?
My favourite current show atm that I feel even remotely fannish about is The Mentalist.

9. What did you really want to do today that you didn't?
Go look at lots of houses! :lol:

10. What are you most excited for?
Aimee's first christmas - oh and finding our dream house. I hope. :)

11. What websites do you always visit when you go online?
Hotmail, BabyCentre, LJ, Gateworld (not as often as I'd like though) and, these days, Rightmove.co.uk.

12. What was the last thing you bought?
A loaf of bread (for me) and a bottle of wine (xmas pressie for a friend).

13.What do you want right now, off the top of your head?
Something good on TV.

14. What's your biggest procrastination method?
Oh the internet. For sure. Quite frankly, it's a wonder I get *anything* done since hubby bought me a netbook! :lol:

15. Are there any bits of childhood you miss?
My sister. :( Freedom from care and responsibility - though to be honest, I was always a worrier, even as a kid - being able to run and jump and do whatever, without pain and stiffness in my knees!

16. Spring, summer, fall, or winter?
Tough one. I always used to prefer autumn (fall, if you insist on US-speak ;D), maybe because I was born that time of year? But now I think I maybe prefer spring... you know how you sometimes get those wonderful bright sunny spring days with a clear blue sky and brilliant sunshine but there is still a nip in the air? Awesome. :)

I speak English as my native language and French and German pretty fluently - though I don't get to use them all that often so they are a bit rusty... but they come back up to standard pretty quickly once I start using them again.

I also still remember a bit of Welsh, a smattering of Spanish and a few words of Italian and Dutch - I can read documents in Italian or Dutch, and Spanish for that matter, and get a fairly good idea of the contents.

If I could learn only one other language.... hmmm. I quite like the idea of learning an Asian language - like Japanese or Mandarin. I'm pretty sure they're darn hard to learn though. Other than that, I've always had a romantic notion about learning Norwegian... partly cos of a fantasticly atmospheric murder mystery drama set in Norway called Maelstrom that was on TV in the UK I think sometime in the 80s... and partly cos of my huuuuuuge teenage crush on a-ha/Morten Harket! :lol:

Been so artsy lately... but I did put about 800 words on the story too, so I think I had a productive evening. ;)

anyway, still messing around with different effects. ;)

And the thing is, I'm not that bothered. In fact, I'm rather relieved. Which I think pretty much confirms this is the right decision.

After a long chat with hubby tonight, we've decided to ( pull out of the house purchase )

Worked on a couple wallpapers last night. Have to circle back to my HC Secret Santa story tonight, but in the meantime...

It is so cold outside that I just curled up in my blanket with a hot cup of tea and fiddled with Photoshop. ;) All season 1, but maybe I'll do a few of these for every season. ;)
